Living With Great Style

on the menu: padron peppers

This past weekend, while shopping at the Fort Mason farmers market, I came across Pardon peppers – one of my favorite treats to make as an appetizer for dinner parties. They literally melt in your mouth and leave a lingering flavor that makes you want to grab another. Last night I made a batch for Eric and I to munch on while watching the Olympics and before I knew it the bowl was gone. He had polished off the entire bowl –  they are that delicious. Plus, they only take about five minutes to make, which is a huge bonus!

Bon appetit friends!

Pardon Peppers with Sea Salt

2 to 3 generous cups of Padron peppers
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
Sea salt to taste

1. Add olive oil to a hot frying pan, when the oil is hot  add the Padron peppers.
2. Cook and stir the peppers until the skin is blisters.
3. Remove the peppers from the pan and place on a plate or bowl.
4. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste.

a brand new week . . .

I can’t believe the last weekend of July has passed – it’s been a month of enjoying a lot of time at home, going to farmers markets, seeing friends and enjoying the city in it’s quite state. This weekend was spent relishing everything I just mentioned. A highlight was seeing Peggy of blue pool road for brunch – it’s always inspiring meeting up with creatives that you admire. She’s such an inspiration.

A few things inspiring me this weekend – our new Turkish rug for our kitchen (I’m madly in love with it), a new scented candle that I couldn’t resist because of the scent and the name, fabric samples from Serena & Lily resulted in a new bed order that I can hardly wait to arrive and lastly, beautiful blooms from Birch that instantly made the house look alive. What inspired you this weekend?

Be sure to check in regularly this week – you can expect a delicious food post, a new workspace feature and much more inspiration! Have a fabulous first part of your week.

happy weekend + a winner!

Happy Friday friends! It’s funny that every week I mention that I’m winding down from another busy week – but who isn’t busy? Sometimes I feel as though everyone is running around from Monday to Friday and when Friday night hits the only thing I want to do is put on my comfies and be at home.  Tonight in particular I’m ready for a night of catching up on magazines, while sipping a warm cup of tea (yes, it’s cold enough here!) and watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Yes, I’m one of those people that gets into the games. I can’t wait to watch athlete’s race their heart out in all of these sports.  Are you excited for them to begin?

Now, tons of you have been emailing about the winner of the Vero Linens giveaway. The winner is . . . Gillian F!  I’ll be emailing you details shortly. A huge thank you to Vero Linens for sponsoring this amazing giveaway!

Have a wonderful weekend!

xx Caitlin

I’m Loving . . .

With temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s here in SF this fall look is very appealing. I might just have to break out my wool coats a little early.

This light, gorgeous ceiling and industrial lights make for a stunning place to have a farmers market in Raleigh.

There really isn’t anything like all white blooms.

The new summer issue of Wayfare Magazine makes my mind wander to far away places.

Although it’s only July dark red nails are already on my mind for fall.

And lastly, the simplicity on this living room with the armless couch and Moroccan rug is pure perfection.
