Living With Great Style

I’m Loving . . .

These stunning doors.

I’ve been lusting after this print for some time. Anyone know where to find them?

Always a good thing to remember.

The simplicity of clean branches.

Everything about this bedroom – from the art, to the bedding, to the adorable kiddo.

The amazing new shop opened by one of our very own – Elise from Pennyweight. Check out her one of a kind items!

And lastly, if you’d like to get a glimpse of details in my living room pop over to La Dolce Vita to check them out.

Girlfriends’ Valentine’s Brunch (and a Giveaway!)

Valentine’s day is right around the corner and although you might be making plans with your honey, sometimes it can be about showing your friends that you care about them!! This year I decided to host a little soiree to celebrate a special group of girlfriends that have supported me this year – close friends and our Sacramento Street contributors (a new lovely lady debuting next week!). Minted was kind enough to provide a Valentine’s Day party in a box, which was perfect for the occasion – striped straws, signs, colorful paper goods for the table, and tags.

It was fun dreaming up this girlie-girl tabletop – a bit out of my normal (neutral colored) comfort zone but it definitely had to happen for this Valentine’s Day brunch. My essentials for any brunch tabletop – clean cut tulips from the grocery store, bright linen napkins, candy in the colors your decorating the table with and lastly, a fun drink to serve guests as they arrive (in this case blood orange soda with prosecco).

One of my favorite things to do for parties is to have something special for guests – in this case, I worked with Minted on creating personalized journals for each of my girlfriends. It was fun to add them to the tabletop as their place card.

When you combine love, laughter and amazing friends around a table, there really isn’t anything better! This brunch made me realize I need to host more parties to celebrate the girlfriends I love.

Now for the fun part! Minted is giving away a $150 gift certificate good for any Valentine’s Day items! Perfect for the holiday that is right around the corner

Here’s how to enter the Minted Valentine’s day giveaway:

~ One winner will be chosen randomly and win a $150 gift certificate good for any Valentine’s Day items on the site!

Four Favorites

To some camel is considered a neutral, but I consider camel a color. Since I’m a black, white and gray wardrobe gal, adding in a little camel makes a bit of a pop. These are a few camel colored pieces I’m currently coveting.

1. Alexander McQueen Leopard and Skull Print Scarf

2. Clare Vivier Stripe Flat Clutch

3. Mougin & Piquard for J.Crew Grande Seconde Watch

4. Isabel Marant Dicker Suede Ankle Boots

On the Menu: Chipotle Black Bean Hummus

Looking for something to make for the Super Bowl this weekend? Susan of Peas and Love here to share one of my favorite go-to dips for a party. I’m always looking for a healthier version of those staples that appear at Super Bowl parties because let’s face it, if it’s sitting there in front of you – you’ll eat it . . . I certainly do! This spicy black bean hummus is sure to be a hit at any party you attend this weekend. And let me tell you, the boys won’t even know it’s a healthy version of what they always love to snack on.

Chipotle Black Bean Hummus

1 can Chickpeas
1 cup Black Beans
1 Tbsp Tahini
1 clove Garlic
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
Juice of 1 Lemon
1 tsp Harissa

Add all ingredients in a blender and puree together until thick and creamy. Add drops of water to thin out, if necessary. Serve with pita chips and fresh cut veggies.

Enjoy this guilt-free super dip for the super bowl! Go Niners!

a brand new week . . .

Can you believe it’s the last week of January? Boy did the month fly! This weekend we were graced with beautiful weather, I hosted a brunch for a group of girlfriends (that will be featured later this week), checked off another Oscar nominated movie (Silver Linings Playbook, which was amazing!) and topped off the weekend with a clothing swap – I can’t wait to see how I’ll style my newly acquired items.

My inspiration comes from a photo I took this weekend when all my things were scattered across the dining room table – that’s what happens when I’m on the go (this routine needs to change, but I thought I’d share it with you). I revived my navy Clare Vivier messenger from my closet (perfect for running around the city), received a new Everlane stash (my new go-to shop for staples), and finalized travel plans for this spring.

I hope all of you have a lovely start to your week! There are lots of exciting features happening this week so be sure to check back regularly.
