One Room Challenge: Week Five

There is no question, lighting can be one of the most challenging items to find that is in keeping with a room design. It can honestly make-or-break the look of a room. In Jackson’s room, I wanted to go with a more modern look for lighting. When I designed his nursery I never changed out the ceiling fixture. I like rooms to have a mix of modern and traditional. With a more traditional bed, the modern lighting helps the room to have a perfect mix.

When it came to Jackson’s room I chose three different lights – one ceiling light and two lamps. Jackson is smitten over all of them! When it came to looking for lighting I turned to Hayneedle for all of my everything. The round globe “looks like a spaceship” according to my son, which he loves. He even placed his little spaceship next to it. The two others are modern and yet fit perfectly into a children’s bedroom.

I’m waiting to show you the lighting in his room but here is a sneak peek into the lighting choices I made:

The Holstebro Chandelier
The Grasshopper Table Lamp
Modern Pearl Table Lamp

Hayneedle made it easy to find everything I had dreamed up for the lighting come true. They have so much to chose from and the prices are reasonable. Can’t ask for much more!

We are getting closer to the reveal (one two more weeks!!) – and I am so excited to show all of you the final room. I have one more painting to stretch onto a canvas, the ceiling light needs to be installed, new light switch and a few other finishing touches like making the bed and the room will be complete. Can’t believe it’s almost done!

I’m looking forward to seeing the rooms of the others in the challenge. If you are interested, head on over to their sites and see what they’ve been up to. And next week I’ll be sharing more details about the art of layering a bed.
