Hello 2018, Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a lovely holiday with your friends and family. After our little staycation here in San Francisco I’m definitely ready to jump into 2018. A new year, brings a fresh start.
This year, I have come up with a few intentions that I hope can help me stay on top of things. My husband will be traveling more for work this year and I have some VERY exciting new projects on the horizon, so staying in touch with these intentions is particularly important over the next twelve months.
Clear the Clutter
This has always been important in our house. I have a difficult time concentrating with disorder around me. I spent the week after Christmas going through all the closets. It’s a constant challenge to keep the number of toys in check. My son has so many trucks and trains! I’m still struggling with a way to store all of them. I finally did a little purge of his toys to see if he even notices if any are gone. It’s all about take baby steps to getting organized but with each closet, drawer and shelf that gets cleaned up it makes me so much happier.
This is something that I have always been good at doing. That is, until I had my daughter in June. Somehow having two kids under the age of three has been a challenge in keeping with my “plan ahead” mentality. I’m still pretty good about tidying up before I go to bed, but sometimes making my lists of what to get done the next day can slip. My brain is just unable to concentrate. Sleepless nights aren’t conducive to planning ahead. Things are beginning to improve and I want to return to making a list for the next day.
I know I am better with a full night of sleep. I have to admit, in college I was the one who never went to bed past eleven and usually earlier. I prefer to be productive during the day and recharge at night. This can be more challenging with a baby, but we do pretty good! Now with two kids I treasure my sleep even more.
More Dates with my Husband
I want to make this a priority this year. We are often so busy with one kiddo or the other, and taking time for the two of us is important. I hope we can get into a routine of taking a date a few times a month (and maybe even a weeknight – crazy, right?!).
Take Time for Myself
Self-care is important. Finding the time is hard, it took me five months to find time to return to pilates after having Amelia. Now that I’m back, I want to be sure I stick to it. It makes me feel good and also helps me to have more energy.
What are your goals for 2018? I’d love to know!
