Giveaway: Freda Salvador Shoes

Freda Salvador GiveawayAs many of you know – I’m a huge fan of Freda Salvador shoes. Actually mildly obsessed . . . they are comfy, stylish and every single time I wear a pair I’m bound to get asked where they are from. Their fall collection is one of my favorite collections yet – the mix of leathers, colors is fabulous and they added a heeled boot that is stunning. Hear more about what inspired them this season.

Freda Salvador Shoes
What was the inspiration for your fall collection?
We love designing Fall. For this collection we were inspired by 70’s and 90’s music…Rock and Roll and Grunge!  Janis Joplin in the 70’s and Kate Moss in the 90’s.  The lines are geometric and simple, but we played around with hardware, like studded welts and removable studded harnesses. We added an elongated toe flat and 2.5′ heeled bootie to our assortment this season…which definitely plays up the Rock/Grunge feel!

How do you choose your fabrics? Does that have any effect on how next season’s line will look?
Twice a year we go to a leather and component Fair in Bologna Italy where we choose all of our leathers.  We of course have our favorite tanneries that we see first and then we love just browsing the entire Fair.  It is unbelievable what they can do with leather!  For Fall we love using hair calf, so depending on what prints are being offered, that definitely inspires our designs.

What exciting things are coming for Freda Salvador in the future?
We have several surprises up our sleeve, especially for our San Francisco customers, so stay tuned!!!!
Now the fun begins – we’re giving away one of our favorites and a staple in my closet, the Freda Salvador Change shoes. You can wear them with just about anything – jeans and a tee, shorts for our Indian summer that should be arriving, or pair them with a skinny black pants to dress them up. Then you have to decide if you want to wear them with the saddle or without. The sky is the limit with these beauties. It’s one of the favorites of the Freda founders and myself! Here’s how they would style these giveaway shoes.

Freda Salvador Change Dotted

What is your favorite way to style the giveaway shoes?

This is one of our favorite shoes of the collection because of the print and versatility.  We love this print specifically because it is interesting but still a neutral.  We like to wear it casually on the weekends with the saddle on and rolled up jeans.  Take the saddle off for a simple loafer…perfect with more tailored, skinny jeans for work.

Then pop over to Freda Salvador to follow them on twitter or instagram. If you live in SF – be sure to stop by their beautiful store on Union Street!

We can’t wait to hear how you’d wear these loafers!

Giveaway: Brooklyn Cruiser Bike

I’ve been on the hunt for a bicycle for a couple years now – there are tons of styles and brands out there to choose from. When looking I only had one major important criteria . . . it had to be white. I know, I know – I’m a little crazy, but if a girl knows what she wants. Why compromise?

When I reached out to Brooklyn Cruiser last fall they were excited to share the news that they were bringing their beautiful Dutch bikes to California. Let’s just say I was thrilled by this announcement. In late April, when my stunning all-white bicycle arrived at Market Street Cycles here in San Francisco, I couldn’t wait to take it for a spin. The first journey was actually to Carmel for this shoot, but when I returned I set out on daily adventures around the city – to the market, a meeting on Fillmore, and then a ride down the hill to the Palace of Fine Arts (one of my favorite spots in the city).

Luckily for us Bay Area residents there are three local stockists:

Market Street Cycles in San Francisco

Willow Glen Cycles in San Jose

Lulu’s Cyclery (opening soon) in Berkeley

Today Brooklyn Cruiser is giving away one of their Dutch bikes to a lucky Bay Area reader!

To enter, simply visit the Brooklyn Cruiser site and leave a comment here telling me what color bike you love and what you’d put in your bike crate.

Entries must be posted by Thursday, June 13th, at 8 a.m. PST, and one winner will be chosen at random.

UPDATE: Congrats Shawn Burke on winning the Brooklyn Cruiser Bike!

* Sorry, limited to readers in the Bay Area. Please do not leave your email or web address in the body of the comment, only in the allotted boxes. Winner will be contacted by email once comments close, and announced at the bottom of this post soon after.

My Perfect Saturday with Poppy Barley

I’ve been waiting impatiently to share this AMAZING giveaway with all of you. After the new year, Poppy Barley reached out to me asking if I would want to collaborate – when I saw that they produced custom boots I jumped at the chance to work with them. Friends, I’m one of those people that has a hard time finding the perfect knee high boot – they are either too tight, too big and they are always too short on my calves. With Poppy Barley you get a detailed guide on how to measure yourself for their custom made boots. At first I thought it would be challenging, but it was quite easy. My one tip, when measuring wear a pair of jeans because you’ll most likely be wearing them with the boots and you don’t want them to be tight around your calves. Once I was all measured the hardest part was selecting which boot . . .

As I brainstormed a way to feature the boots in a way that reflected the Sacramento Street reader, I thought that it would be fun to show you how I would spend “My Perfect Saturday” in the Poppy Barley boots. As we set off on a girls day with my mom and cousin we decided to first drive out to the Legion of Honor. It’s one of my favorite places in San Francisco – not only for the exhibits they showcase, but for the architecture of the museum itself.

This trip as we were taking a few photos of the boots, we got a few unexpected guests – two frenchies.

As you make your way out of the Legion of Honor you drive past our most prized landmark in San Francisco – the Golden Gate Bridge. Since it was a gorgeous day, we decided to sit on a bench and enjoy the sites of sailboats, the cliffs and of course the bridge.

A cool breeze came over so we decided to jump in our car and head to Sacramento Street to do a little window shopping to get inspired. The block between Baker and Broderick has a handful of stores that I know will inspire me – March, Sue Fisher King and a new store called The Future Perfect. All of which give me loads of inspiration.

Now that I’ve shared my Perfect Saturday, it’s time for you to share yours. One lucky Sacramento Street reader will win their very own pair of custom Poppy Barley boots (worth $450), along with $550 that will go towards purchasing anything they pin on the “My Perfect Saturday” Pinterest board. Now do you see why I was so excited about this post?

Here is how to enter:
1. Follow Poppy Barley and Caitlin Flemming on Pinterest.
2. Create you very own Pinterest board named “My Perfect Saturday”.
3. Pin your favorite pair of Poppy Barley boots and anything else that would make for a Perfect Saturday in your eyes. This could be your favorite restaurant, clothes that make up an outfit, a trip to a museum, you name it, just pin it!
4. Come back to Sacramento Street and comment on which were your favorite pair of boots and link to your Pinterest board.
5. Be sure to add this quote to all of your pins – “#PBperfectsaturday with @CaitlinFlemming and @PoppyBarley” to all your images.
6. Keep pinning for the duration of the contest because we’ll be judging on which board we think embraced their Perfect Saturday the best.

Isn’t this exciting! All Pinterest boards must be created by April 15th. A lucky winner will be selected and announced on April 26th!

Also, as a special bonus, Poppy Barley is offering $25 off any pair of boots. Use code SAC25 thru April 15th.

Good luck everyone and I can’t wait to see what your Perfect Saturdays entail!

*Sorry, limited to U.S., Canada and Mexico readers only. $1,000 USD total value. Winner will be contacted by email once comments close and announced at the bottom of this post soon after.
