Living With Great Style

Style: Simple Layers

It’s July and all I want to do is ditch my jeans for dresses and shorts – on some days this is possible when we aren’t fogged in or being blown away by the wind. While I still love the idea of putting on a dress and some bling, I’ve changed what I wear to align with being a mom. Jackson is often on my hip, and high-heeled shoes or tight clothes are usually found in the back of the closet. So, I went out on the hunt for key pieces that could be a) easily washable and b) still chic that I could run to a client meeting. I love this tie up dress in black linen paired with a slate sweater – both from Emerson Fry. Both are loose and comfortable and those are both essential qualities in my wardrobe these days!

Style: Dressing with Ease

For a long time, an essential part of my wardrobe has been pieces I’ve added to my wardrobe from Emerson Fry. The simplicity and great fit of each piece I have make them favorites in my wardrobe. Now that I’m a new mom, I especially like the idea of the simple fit and easy care of these items. There is always some kind of a spill or leak with a little one around and I like clothes I can wash or clean easily.

Here are some of my most recent finds from Emerson Fry. For most of you in other regions of the country, you probably wonder why I chose to get a wool coat in the summer. In San Francisco, these are some of our cooler days with the fog rolling in daily. But for the rest of you, this would make a perfect jacket for the cool fall days that are just around the corner. I’m loving the light gray jeans paired with an ivory linen t-shirt for the summer months – even if our summer isn’t ever a hot one!

Layer It: Take It Easy

It’s officially summer – the season that makes you want to take road trips, partake in long lunches outdoors and take it easy. Although it’s sometimes colder in SF, we know how to enjoy it by traveling just 10 minutes up north. I can assure you that’s what we’ll be doing the next few months to get some much needed vitamin d.

Layer It: Lake Side

It’s Monday and I’m already day dreaming about the weekend. We’re heading up to Lake Tahoe – I can’t wait for the fresh mountain air, playing in the water with Jackson and paddle boarding until my legs are exhausted. Most of all, I’m looking forward to the warm weather . . . the fog has taken over the city.

Layer It: A Classic

Wardrobe staples are a must in my eyes. For me one of those items is a classic white collared shirt. There is nothing quite like it. You can pair it with a jean jacket during the day or dress it up with a leather jacket at night – it’s so versatile.

This is one look I have on regular rotation – a classic white shirt with either skinny jeans or shorts (weather permitting). Now you may not think of me as a Birkenstocks kind of girl, but I’ve been wearing my white pair and they are incredibly comfortable. I’ve been on the hunt for a few more white shirts for my closet – do you have any favorites?

1.) McGuire Shore Leave Slim Jean in Kansas City Wash

2.) White Cotton Courier Shirt

The Layers

3.) Raglan Sunglasses

4.) Definicils High Definition Mascara

5.) Metro Grand Quilted Strap Watch
