It’s that time of year, where doorsteps are being decorated with pumpkins, days are getting shorter and it’s nearing the end of one of my favorite fall things to do – apple picking. In our house we’re a little more than obsessed with apples. Both of us have an apple a day and this time of year they are better than ever. So we set out and head up north to do a bit of apple picking to make delicious crisps, turnovers, you name it!

One thing I love about setting out on this adventure is putting together a true fall look – taking out my fall sweaters, boots and plaid scarves. It truly makes it feel like fall is officially here, even if it is a bit mild this year.

What layers do you love pairing together for outdoor adventures during the fall?

Layer It: Casual Fall Friday

Layer It : Sunday Brunch | Sacramento Street

One of the many things I love about fall are the soft layers I’m able to pair together. This season I’ve been completely drawn toward cozy plaid flannel shirts. They can be paired with just about any outfit – dressed down for a casual brunch with friends or dressed up for a cocktail party. I currently have two favorites I’ve been coveting – the white plaid shirt above (which now has to be worn unbuttoned due to the growing baby bump) and this Hudson shirt in plaid by Hatch Collection (ladies, this can be worn sans baby bump, it’s so cute!).

Do you have any fall items you’re coveting this season? I want to know!

What’s In Your Fall Handbag?

What's in Your Fall Handbag | Sacramento Street

No matter what your budget is, purchasing a new fall handbag is a treat in my eyes. It’s one of those investment pieces that you can keep for years to come. I’ve had some of my handbags since high school and college . I alternate bags throughout the year and they each bring back memories from when made the purchases. A great bag can transform an outfit – so it’s important to take your time finding the best fit for you and your lifestyle.

This season I was on the hunt for a modern, handcrafted, elegant handbag that would be both timeless and functional. As I set out on my search I came across the perfect contender. Cuyana has designed a beautiful cross-body called The Shoulder Bag, made out of the beautiful leather that is so soft you’ll want to use it as a pillow.

My ultimate test for any smaller handbag is that they have to fit all of my essential items. And of course, I had to share with all of you what I’m carrying around in my fall handbag this season. I’m known for carrying quite a bit around with me – you never know what you might need! This Shoulder Bag stood up the the test and I was able to fit every single essential that I carry in my larger handbags. Can you believe it?

Layer It: Cozying Up For Fall

Layer It: Cozying Up For Fall | Sacramento Street

As I mentioned earlier, I’m ready to dive right into fall but alas it’s going to have to wait. I think I’m the only one in San Francisco wishing that Karl the Fog would roll in so I can finally get all bundled up in some of my favorite fall items. Since I can’t actually wear fall clothing yet I’ve decided I’ll share what I’m dreaming of wearing with all of you. These striped leggings caught my eye a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head – they are perfect for a casual day running around town doing errands or working at home on projects. Added bonus, they are comfy for this growing belly.
