Eric and I are off to celebrate the wedding of one of my dear friends. Weddings are always a special time – it’s a time to celebrate the union of a beautiful couple, to see the friends and family brought them together, and best of all a time to dance! This wedding in particular is going to be a blast because I have a handful of friends (fellow bloggers) coming in for the celebration.

After a whirlwind week, I’m winding down from all of my crossed off to-do lists projects that have been accomplished and I’m settling into the weekend with a huge smile on my face. Sometimes you have to push through the hard times and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for all of your sweet and kind words Monday – they definitely cheered me on this week!


This weekend I’m finally unpacking the last remaining boxes in our new apartment.  It’s funny how one room always ends up being the dumping ground for boxes you don’t want to unpack or deal with after moving. Since all of them are in my office it’s high time for me to get it under control – I can’t wait to have it all organized and set up.

Maybe it’s because of the move but I feel like it should be mid-May right now. After a full week of exciting things happening around the office – I have a lot of fun posts in store for next week. I’m ready for a little bit of downtime mixed with some work this weekend. I’ve been feeling a little behind ever since the move. But don’t worry, I’ll be taking in the warm weather temps, visiting the Sunset Magazine Concept House to support Erin and Brian and then testing out a few new recipes from Gwyneth’s new cookbook.

This weekend marks the beginning of summer in my eyes – backyard barbecues are filling up our calendar, warmer weather awaits and summer road trips are await us. What makes Memorial Day weekend even more special is that my birthday always falls on it. Today I turn 28! And I’m excited and giddy about the undiscovered potential of a new year waiting to unfold. As I sit back and reflect on this past year – I can’t believe the milestones and leaps I’ve made. I’ll be celebrating today with family and friends that have each made this last year so special!

Although it’s only a few blocks away. I can’t believe we will be spending our last night in our first home, but change is good. It’s a little odd sitting here looking around seeing everything off the walls and boxes stacked up – it really shows me that no matter where you live the treasures you bring into a home make it feel personal. I’ve been spending almost this entire week working from the new apartment and it already feels like home. We’ve unpacked a few key things that have made it feel like ours already. I’m thrilled with the way everything is coming together bit by bit.

These next few weeks are centered around moving into our new abode – the painting is almost done and then we’ll be moving on to lighting and window treatments next week. I’m excited to find places for our current furniture and figure out what we need to purchase. It’s an exciting time – and as I pack up memories from our first home I keep thinking about the new memories we’ll be making.

 

If you’re chillin’ this weekend and need some inspiration I suggest the following:

 

- I’ll be cooking up one of these tacos recipes Camille put together tomorrow night.

 

- If you need workspace inspiration, our latest Room Anatomy is awesome.

 

- I’ve been in the DIY mood. I’m going to attempt to make this lamp.

 

- Jessica took some stunning photos of our trip down the Central Coast.

 

- I’m loving this new series by Joslyn called “Inspired By” – each one has brought me inspiration in a different way.

 

- Friends are starting to announce they are pregnant, which makes me giddy for them. When I saw this post by Erin I knew all of them need to go shopping at Hatch – because I would even wear some of these items even though I’m not pregnant. So chic!

 

- The warm weather this week had me making this salad almost everyday for lunch.

 

- An added bonus for my fellow Bay Area friends – the San Francisco Symphony Gala is hosting the ever so talented Janelle Monáe on May 16th. I was completely smitten by Charleston – the architecture, food (holy moly) and the southern hospitality. Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing my favorites from the trip.  It feels so good to have had a day at home to refresh and organize myself before taking another trip. I’m off to Carmel this weekend to shoot a lookbook with Jessica (I adore working with her). We’ll be directing a shoot along the coast and I can’t wait to see the shots we come up with this weekend.


Before we bid farewell, I’m thrilled to announce the winner of the Poppy Barely giveaway! This was an exciting one and I’m pleased to announce that Hillary Wright has won. Her board completely inspired both the Poppy Barely team and myself – we felt as though she created a wonderful, perfect Saturday. Congrats!

Friends, I’m thrilled to tell you that we have signed a new lease to an apartment. The best part is that we are staying on Sacramento Street – PHEW! You may know the apartment we’re moving into – it’s Crystal’s (from Rue Magazine) beautiful apartment. I’m still in a bit of shock as it’s all happening incredibly quickly, but in just one month’s time we will be in our new place. We weren’t expecting to move this year – in fact it was one of our goals to stay in our studio, but when the offer presented itself we couldn’t resist taking this three bedroom apartment. The best part – I’ll have an office AND a bedroom! It’s like a dream come true.


One of my very first orders of business is pinning decor inspiration! As you can expect I’ll be documenting the process here on Sacramento Street. I’ll be sharing everything from the paint colors, fixtures and items I’m deciding between. I think it’ll be fun to see another space come to life!


After seven amazing years in our tiny studio, it’s finally time to say goodbye. I’m happy to say that a dear friend will be calling it her home. I know she’s going to make it such a beautiful space and I’m thrilled that our first home is being passed on to someone who will love it as much as we did.

I am more than ready for a few days off. Today, Eric and I are going to opening day for the Giants – I can’t believe the season is beginning again. It’s so nice to have him back after being gone for six weeks.
